For Immediate Release: Overkill No Longer Official Merchandise Supplier for Ontario Volleyball Association Toronto, January 7 – 2008 Fred Koops announced today that for the first time in over 12 years Overkill Clothing will not be creating clothing for the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) in the 2008 season. “Much to our disappointment and surprise, the OVA recently notified us that they have decided to move to another merchandise company for the 2008 season,” explained Fred Koops of Overkill. “This is very difficult for us on both a professional and personal level as we have built many strong relationships within the volleyball community over the years and they have become like family to us.” As a leading partner of the OVA, Overkill created the well-known merchandise logo, established the retail and merchandise program and sold clothing at numerous OVA events each year. In light of hesitations from the OVA to commit to an ongoing partnership in 2008, Overkill did not attend any OVA events in the last few months of 2007. The discontinuation of the relationship will prevent Overkill from attending events in 2008 in their past capacity. Apart from their merchandising programs, Overkill also sponsors numerous athletes and programs in the volleyball world. Their substantial commitment to the sport won them a second Corporate Citation from the Ontario Sports Awards in 2007. The company plans to continue with their existing initiatives in addition to seeking other opportunities to support the volleyball community. “Volleyball has played an important role in the development of our organization and we are passionate about and committed to the sport and its athletes. We’ll continue to look for ways to work in the community and support the sport,” stated Koops. About Overkill Overkill is a 17 year-old clothing and design company based in Toronto. From their store in The Beach, the company has built an impressive list of clients including The Grand Prix of Toronto, Ontario Lacrosse Association, Ontario Hockey Federation, Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations and Canadian Men’s Beach Volleyball Olympian Mark Heese and his partner Ahren Cadieux. The company’s “Freddy” merchandise mascot has become a famous image in the Ontario recreational sport and youth clothing world.
